About Hyperion Analytical

Duncan holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine. He has worked in the field of particle characterization for over three decades as a scientist, technical representative, and product manager for companies such as Malvern Instruments, NanoSight, and Horiba. In leading the development and marketing of particle characterization instruments, he has come to understand the needs of customers for better tools than were being offered, ongoing development, and being a reliable partner in the scientific endeavor.

William holds dual undergraduate degrees in Physics and Physical Science. He was worked in the field of colloidal characterization for over three decades. William has worked as a scientist and technical representative for Malvern Instrumentation, NanoSight, Brookhaven Instruments and Fluid Imaging Technologies. He is the owner and director of Particle Characterization Laboratories, Inc. a full service contract research organization dedicated to the characterization of micron and sub-micron sized particles. William is an industry acknowledged expert in Nano-Particle Tracking Analysis (NTA), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Zeta Potential, Sedimentation and Flow Imaging (FI) and several other particle characterization techniques.

Serina earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at Cal State San Bernardino. She has worked at Hyperion Analytical for over two years now, starting as an ambitious intern and moving up to Lead Laboratory Technician. As the lead technician on the Envision, Serina plays a crucial role in its research and development. Her contributions expand beyond routine tasks, focusing on building new Envision units, performing research for further improvements on the instrument, and demoing the product to potential customers.

Shima holds an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of California Riverside. She has been working as a lab technician and researcher for Hyperion Analytical for almost 2 years. She works as an interpersonal communicator that builds relationships and promotes collaboration across teams to drive impactful change and comprehensive approaches that lead to innovative scientific discoveries.

William Schroeder, PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Southern California, is the Director of R&D at Hyperion Analytical. He leads efforts to set target specifications and approaches, collaborating closely with the engineering team. His responsibilities include guiding optical engineers in beam shaping optimization and mechanical engineers in maximizing system performance, as well as overseeing the assembly and testing of final systems.

Ted holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Information Sciences from SUNY, NY. He has worked for several decades designing and developing software solutions for management and control of laboratory instrumentation used for small particle characterization. He has produced numerous commercial applications and software tools used for measurement and determination of fundamental intrinsic properties such as particle size, molecular weight, and surface charge. Ted’s primary goal is to design simple intuitive user interfaces targeted for use by technical talent from a variety of professional backgrounds for use in both production and pure research environments.

Currently pursuing Biochemistry at California Polytechnic, Pomona, Lauren leaves an indelible mark as a Laboratory Technician at Hyperion Analytical. Commencing her journey in September of 2023, Lauren’s proficiency in operating an HPLC system and collaborative contributions with mechanical and software engineers enhance experimental methodologies. Designing intricate nitrosamine analysis sequences and innovating with a custom apparatus, she showcases adaptability and ingenuity. Lauren’s dual commitment to academic learning and practical application epitomizes her seamless integration into the scientific community.
